During the past few decades, the Logistics industry has been
characterized by mega mergers and acquisitions. In Africa
the situation has been worse because of the poor
infrastructure of the local Freight Forwarding industry and
inadequate access to resources. "Going it alone" has
therefore been very difficult for the average indigenous
African Freight Forwarder. The idea of African Links
Logistics Network was to bring together indigenous African
Freight Forwarders into a partnership in order for them to
capitalize on their core competencies - local knowledge, to
be better placed to compete |

An enlarged network in Africa will place AFRINET
member-partners in a good position to take advantage of the
vast growth potentials of the African market. In addition to
the existing services, it is anticipated that groupage
consolidation businesses will increase substantially as the
network expands across the continent. This will in the long
run help to boost intra-African commerce, that has up till
now been very small compared to other regions |
